About PC Conviction

You would like to know more about PC Conviction ? You'd like to know its story (that isn't very big for the moment ) ? You'd like to know why PC Conviction and not another name ? You'd like to know everything about the creator/ webmaster (hey ! Don't come to much near from him still and all ! He could bite you. ) ? You are curious about knowing some technical details of PC Conviction (for the other webmasters, of course ) ? Then, this page is what you're looking for !

Once upon a time, in the year 2007 ...

Well, let's begin by the still very short story of PC Conviction. I will show you the appearence of the various versions of the website in the next paragraph.

All began on September 2007. While I was eager to learn lots of things about IT security, I decided to create a blog with the idea to share all my new but meagre knowledges. I named it PC Control.

But it quickly appeared to me that a blog would no be enought. I needed something entirely customizable. Only one solution : a website.

But how to create a website ? Then I threw into searches so as to give an answer to each question, and I found what is called a website creator. So the website ran on it during some days. But again, it quickly appeared that it wasn't the solution, by far.

Then, one day, I chanced on a wonderful website which learnt me all what I know about programmation nowadays : the Site du Zér0 (but this is a French website, sorry for the non-French speakers !) !

Then I learnt programmation and I created my new website at the same time. It grew on 13/10/2007, named PC Forever, name taken quite quickly and badly ... It kept that shape during about 8 month, being a little developed, but rather out-of-the-way ; with good reason, as the content was very limited, as well as the dozen of botched designs, a little hideous, like the website's name.

During the summer holidays of 2008, from the beginning of July, I decided to gather my courage (well maybe I exagerate a litle ) and to entirely redo the website. I redid all the design, I modified the classes I had written, PC Forever became PC Conviction, which was bilingual : the website opened the doors to the English speakers !

At the moment I write this page, PC Conviction is actually about to be launched, et I wish it will have a great futur, with success.

Why this name and not another ?

My reasons are very simple : first of all, I was looking for a name beginning by "PC". Next, the website was about to become bilingual, the ideal would by a name that has the same meaning in French and in English ; it already reduce the choice very much.

I first had many difficulties to find a name that correspond to these requirements and that was available, but, as I noticed that most of the words ending by -tion are common in English and in French, I started looking for a software that would list the French words ending by -tion. I found it, and, as I drew up a choice of a dozen of name possibilities, it appeared that the one that was the most suitable was PC Conviction. And here we are !

Which technologies does PC Conviction use ?

Warning : this paragraph contains some technical words in relation with programmation. The non-programmers readers are likely to not understand everything. You simply can to go directlyto the next paragraph.

PC Conviction use the following languages :

• XHTML 1.0 : the website is coded in XHTML 1.0 Strict and respect the standards.
• CSS 2.0 : the design is coded in CSS 2.0 which also respect the standards.
• PHP 4 : very useful for various uses, this language is very used on PC Conviction.
• MySQL : that's the database for some scripts like the forum, the news, the chatbox, the gustbook, and more again.
• JavaScript / DHTML : used for some dynamic scripts like the rollover menu the chatbox's insight, it is always a quite useful language, but which only offers some "plus" in the navigation, so as to not disadvantage the visitors whose JavaScript interpretation isn't enabled.
• The C language : it isn't used by the website, but it is the language with which one some of my softwares are coded.

But who are you ?

That's true, I refer to myself as "I" on the entire website, but I didn't even introduce myself to you !

Call me FLo. But in which concerns my private life, I'd like to keep a part of secret over it.

For my qualities and defaults, I let you judge yourself.

How can I help PC Conviction ?

It's very simple. I currently am alone managing the website, and helps, whatever they are, are all welcome. Some examples ? Here there are :
